![]() Every day banks, mutual funds, brokerage firms and financial advisers cast lures for my money. ![]() Lately I've had to keep my guard up against a less obvious form of gambling-a stock market driven by "investors" who are ignoring sound investment principles. ![]() And I look the other way when I see highway billboards touting the latest multimillion-dollar lottery. I turn off the TV when a commercial for a gambling ship comes on. I avoid flying off to places like Las Vegas, Atlantic City or New Orleans. With this in mind, I'm vigilant in my daily fight against enticements to play the odds. They've declared bankruptcy, lost their homes or will be paying back friends and creditors for the rest of their lives. ![]() I am a reformed compulsive gambler who had the good luck to break the habit while I still had the proverbial shirt on my back. ![]()
